Over the Moon hand craft their cheeses is the stunning South Waikato.

We’re describing their Red Planet Cheddar as a ‘foundational’ cheese - it’s not too challenging and we think most people will like it. It’s a good quality, straight up cheese that adds some lovely colour to your cheese board.

The cheese is moist and dense, with a slightly acidic tang. The texture is firm and creamy, with a slight flakiness, making it more suited to cutting into cubes than slicing. This flakiness becomes more pronounced as the cheese ages (just in case you’re a patient kind of person). The rich orangey-red colour is derived from a natural colouring additive known as annatto.
